SUMMER COURSES
The IEFE organise for 4 weeks a summer course associating teaching and dynamic approach of the language through the practice of cultural activities.
Teaching :
15 maximum for the Beginners to Intermediate courses.
Teachings of phonetic and pedagogical outings (visit of a local market, of a newspaper, etc...) are included in courses.
Language and civilisation courses :
Students are placed in groups of different levels according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Beginner Level :
This course aim to develop communicative and linguistic skills in French everyday life. The teaching is based on the latest developments in language teaching.
– Oral expression is constantly stimulated (conversations, acting roles…)
– Written expression is developed in several different ways
– Training in written and oral comprehension, using recorded dialogues and authentic documents (video, songs, short news items…)
- Intermediate Level:
This courses offer different levels from elementary to basic French. Students will be able to communicate and easily give their point of view.
Linguistic work is organised between written and oral comprehension and expression, through an approach to French culture and the main features of society :
– Training in written and oral comprehension, using recorded dialogues and authentic documents
– Grammatical work
- Advanced Level :
For students who have already acquired the basics of French, this course aims to revise student’s knowledge of French, deepening this knowledge and acquire new knowledge to gain a good competence in written and oral communication. The activities proposed are generally based on authentic documents and reflections of French society and culture.
- Proficiency Level :
This course is designed for students with a very advanced level of French (for example, for students of 3rd or 4th year in French in a foreign university).
– Working of language and lexis (a more in-depth study of grammatical points, a study of complex language events, of the coherence and cohesion of discourse).
– Improving written with activities like note-taking, argument essay, summarising documents, reformulation…)
– Links between language, culture, and civilisation from numerous authentic documents (written, audio, video, multimedia…)
Students can ask for a certificate of attendance and assessment at the end of their stay.
The availability of each course depends on the minimum numbers of registration being reached.
“A la carte” courses
“A la carte courses” can be organised at the request of institutions or groups.
- Teacher training (FFL methodology and didactics, grammar applied to teaching FFL, new technologies and teaching French)
These courses are designed in close collaboration with the requesting partner.
- Linguistic and cultural refresher courses:
Time: 3 weeks in September, 15 hours per week.
Aim: Linguistic upgrading to enable better integration in the university course and a better understanding of French social and cultural system.
