University Post Bachelor’s degree Certificate in French preparing for a Master’s Degree in Sciences and Technology (Diplôme d’Intégration aux Études Françaises de Sciences et de Technologies)

What is it ?

This one-year programme is designed for international students who wish to enrol in a Master’s degree in Sciences and Technology at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’ Adour ( UPPA ) under the best possible conditions. At the end of the year, applicants will be selected on the basis of their results by the admissions committee.

Who is it for?

This programme is designed for international students who have completed a three-year university degree in Sciences and Technology. The level of French required at the beginning of this preparatory course is B1 (as set by the Common European Framework of Reference for languages)

Student admission

B1 level of French must be attested by TCF DAP, DELF B1 or by a language test proposed by the IEFE, which the candidates must take either in an Alliance Française or in the French Department of their home university.

The admissions committee which is composed of teachers from the IEFE and from the UPPA Sciences Department will examine the candidate’s qualifications. The admission file must include:

  • a copy of TCF DAP , DELF B1 or language test approved and corrected by the IEFE
  • a copy and a certified translation in French of the original diploma obtained in the candidate’s country (mentioning the credits obtained and a description of each module)

What do the courses consist of ?

The year is divided into two semesters, the first running from September to January, and the second from February to June. The programme consists in French language and culture courses at the IEFE as well as two modules from the Sciences Undergraduate Curriculum offered by the Faculty of Sciences and Technology. The two modules will be determined by the commission according to each student’s previous coursework

First semester: 200 hours of French language and culture courses

The students will be placed in a course of the IEFE according to their level of French. The courses are designed for a multicultural audience and aim at developing different skills (listening and reading comprehension, spoken and written production, training for acquiring methods in note taking or speaking in public).

Second semester: 70 hours of French language + 50 hours of specific lessons designed for students enrolled in the Certificate in French

2 modules from the Sciences and Technology Undergraduate Curriculum to be attended and validated at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology.

What to do after the “Diplôme d’Intégration aux Études Françaises de Sciences et de Technologies” (Certificate in French preparing for a Master’s degree in Sciences and Technology)?

Once they have obtained the Certificate, students will be authorized to enrol in the 1st or 2nd year of a UPPA Master’s degree in Sciences and Technology, depending on their previous coursework and after having obtained authorisation from the admissions committee

The annual fee is 2 800 €
Complulsory social insurance : 215€
